Hydroponic growing
Usually, water used for hydroponic cultivation has certain peculiarities, such as:
- Low level of oxygen
- High H2S content
- High pH
- High level of microbiological contamination
- Presence of algae
The high levels of H2S block the effect of fertilizers, leading to their massive use. The result of this is a low-yield harvest. This H2S triggers growth of anaerobic bacteria, which can do serious damage to the plants’ roots. Likewise, the low dissolved oxygen levels help to limit plant growth and elevated pH levels can produce rotting and inhibit the plant’s absorption of calcium.
The use of ozone in hydroponic fields holds several advantages:
Elimination of H2S
- Increase in dissolved oxygen
- Savings on fertilizers
- Disinfection of water environment
- Fewer crop losses
- Less time between planting and harvesting
The systems used in hydroponics growing require close control of the ozone doses applied. All our facilities are equipped with dissolved ozone control, gas elimination systems and generators able to function 24 hours a day under adverse conditions.
